Alliance Bank To Cap Bonus Points Earnings On E-Commerce For Visa Infinite & Visa Platinum Cards

Alliance Bank has announced an update to the benefits of the Alliance Bank Visa Platinum and Alliance Bank Visa Infinite credit cards, introducing a cap on the amount of Timeless Bonus Points (TBP) that you can soon earn on your e-commerce transactions. This revision is set to take effect starting from 3 June 2024.

To start, the Alliance Bank Visa Platinum card (inclusive of the Virtual Credit Card (VCC)) currently allows you to earn up to 8x TBP on various categories of transactions, including e-wallet reloads and e-commerce. While most spend categories do not have a limit on the amount of TBP that can be earned, the e-wallet reload spend category – which gives you the maximum 8x TBP – is capped at RM3,000 per statement cycle; this was introduced back in 2022.

Fast forward to today, a similar RM3,000 cap will soon also be introduced for the e-commerce spend category, which is also the only other spend category that lets you earn the maximum 8x TBP as well. To clarify, this new RM3,000 cap will be separate from the RM3,000 limit imposed on the e-wallet reload spend category. Here’s a table to summarise this change to the Alliance Bank Visa Platinum card:

This same RM3,000 cap on e-commerce transactions will also apply to the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite card come 3 June 2024, which also offers up to 8x TBP for selected transactions and has a similar existing RM3,000 limit for the TBP that can be earned on e-wallet reloads.

You can refer to this next table to see the exact changes that will be made to the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite card:

Other than these, Alliance Bank said that the other features of the Alliance Bank Visa Platinum and Alliance Bank Visa Infinite cards will remain the same. The annual fee for the Alliance Bank Visa Platinum will remain unchanged at RM120, open for application to individuals with an annual income of RM24,000 per annum.

Meanwhile, the Alliance Bank Visa Infinite card continues to offer perks like 2x complimentary Plaza Premium Lounge access globally, 1x access to the Travel Club Lounge, and personalised Visa Concierge services. You can also tap into three-month 0% flexi payment plans for selected spend. The annual fee for this card continues to stand at RM438, and those who wish to apply for this card must have a minimum annual income of RM60,000 per year.
