Lower Coverage for Death or Permanent Disablement

One of the key changes[PDF] is a reduction in the insurance payout for death or permanent disablement. The current maximum benefit of RM1,000,000 will be revised down to RM300,000. This reduction applies to all eligible credit cards under the revised travel PA insurance from the implementation date.

New Medical and Travel Disruption Benefits Introduced

Several new benefits will be introduced under the revised insurance plan. These include coverage for medical expenses, with a maximum limit of RM25,000 for individuals and RM50,000 for families. In addition, trip curtailment and trip cancellation will be covered for the first time, with each benefit offering up to RM25,000 per family. These enhancements are intended to provide additional protection in cases of unexpected illness or changes in travel plans.

Higher Payouts for Loss of Money and Documents

The benefit for the loss of personal money and travel documents will be increased significantly. Under the current plan, individual coverage is capped at RM1,000, with a family limit of RM2,000. These limits will be raised to RM5,000 for individuals and RM10,000 per family under the revised insurance policy.

Several Existing Travel Benefits Will Be Discontinued

As part of the revision, a number of existing travel-related benefits will be discontinued. These include coverage for missed flight connections, travel delays, baggage delay, baggage loss, and missed departures. Other discontinued benefits include car rental excess, child care, and COVID-19-related allowances such as overseas hospital allowance and loss of deposit or trip cancellation due to the pandemic. These items will no longer be included in the new travel insurance offering.

Eligibility Limited to Selected Credit Cardholders

The revised travel PA insurance will only apply to specific CIMB credit cards. Eligible cards under the new terms include the CIMB Travel Platinum Credit Card, CIMB Visa Signature Credit Card, CIMB World Mastercard Credit Card, CIMB Travel World Credit Card, CIMB Visa Infinite Credit Card, and CIMB Preferred Visa Infinite Credit Card.
