HSBC Bank has revised the eligibility criteria to obtain its HSBC Premier World Travel Mastercard credit card, increasing the original requirement of having a minimum total relationship balance (TRB) of RM200,000 with the bank to RM3 million. On top of that, this card is now also a by-invitation-only card, available exclusively for HSBC Premier Elite accountholders.
This revision is in line with HSBC’s recent launch of the new premium tier of its Premier banking services, called HSBC Premier Elite. Accessible to customers who have a TRB of RM3 million or more, HSBC Premier Elite offers a range of exclusive wealth solutions, international banking services, as well as elite concierge and health and protection privileges – among other things. It appears that the HSBC Premier World Travel Mastercard, too, has been elevated to become one of the special perks available only to this elite segment of customers.
Aside from that, HSBC said that the annual fee for the card – which was previously set at RM600 for principal cardholders, waivable for the first year – will be waived fully for HSBC Premier Elite customers.
Meanwhile, the benefits of the card remains unchanged. The HSBC Premier World Travel Mastercard card will continue to let you to earn 1.1 air miles for every RM1 spent on overseas transactions, and 1x air miles for every RM4 spent locally. Other additional perks include 12x complimentary Plaza Premium Lounge access worldwide, special discounts for the fees of selected golf clubs as well as accommodation bookings via Expedia and Agoda, and e-commerce protection insurance of up to US$200.
“Existing HSBC Premier World Travel Credit Card is not impacted with this change and the current terms and conditions still applies,” the bank also shared in its notice.
These latest amendments to the HSBC Premier World Travel Mastercard are already in effect.
