Standard Chartered Revises Airport Lounge Benefit For Priority Banking Visa Infinite, Visa Infinite Card
Author Avatar

Standard Chartered is revising the complimentary airport lounge access benefit for two of its credit cards, namely the Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite and the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite. The updates are set to take effect starting from 1 April 2023.

For the Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite card, cardholders are currently entitled to unlimited complimentary access to airport lounges globally via LoungeKey, provided they maintain their Priority Banking membership with a minimum asset under management (AUM) of RM250,000. In the event that their membership end, or that they are unable to maintain the required AUM, the cardholder will then be limited to 2x complimentary access only.

Come 1 April, however, the minimum AUM requirement will be increased, so cardholders will soon need to maintain an AUM of RM3,000,000 instead to enjoy unlimited complimentary access to airport lounges. There is, however, a new additional perk introduced along with this increased requirement, allowing cardholders to bring along an accompanying guest for each visit. Meanwhile, if your AUM falls within the range of RM250,000 to RM2,999,999, you will be allowed 8x complimentary airport lounge access.

We’ve summarised this update to the Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite card in the table below for better clarity:

Existing airport lounge access benefitRevised airport lounge access benefit (1 April onwards)
– Unlimited complimentary access to airport lounges globally via LoungeKey with a minimum AUM of RM250,000

– 2x complimentary access to airport lounges globally via LoungeKey per year if you do not meet minimum AUM of RM250,000
– Unlimited complimentary access to airport lounges globally via LoungeKey, with an accompanying guest per visit, with minimum a AUM of RM3,000,000

– 8x complimentary access to airport lounges globally via LoungeKey per year if your AUM falls in the range of RM250,000 to RM2,999,999.

Take note as well that cardholders who do not meet the specified AUM requirement or who exceed their permitted number of complimentary airport lounge access will soon be required to pay US$29 for each individual and visit to the lounges, up from the current rate of US$27.

As for the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite credit card, the revision is more straightforward. Standard Chartered customers who hold this card will see their existing 2x complimentary access to airport lounges per year reduced to 1x access. A similar charge of US$29 per individual per visit will also be debited to the cardholder if they exceed their number of complimentary access permitted (also up from the current fee of US$27).

Aside from these changes, other features and benefits of both cards remain unchanged; cardholders will still be able to earn 1x and 5x 360° Rewards Points for every RM1 spent on eligible local and overseas transactions, respectively. Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite cardholders will also continue to enjoy additional perks, including up to RM80 cashback on their limo ride expenses when returning from overseas travel.

The annual fees for both cards also still stand at RM800 (waived for the first two years for Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite cardholders, and subsequently with minimum retail purchases of RM10,000 per annum). Note as well that while the Standard Chartered Priority Banking Visa Infinite is still available for application, the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite has been discontinued, although existing cardholders are still able to use the card and enjoy its benefits.
