Standard Chartered Updates Smart Credit Card With New Card Face
Author Avatar

Standard Chartered appears to have updated the card face of its Smart credit card in Malaysia, changing it from the existing minimalist slate-grey theme to a patterned background with a light green hue.

Malaysia’s version of the Smart credit card was originally launched back in November 2020 with a silver-hued design, coupled with a greyscale of the Standard Chartered logo set horizontally against the background – as you can below:

Now, the updated Smart credit card – which was shown on Standard Chartered’s website – has a patterned background, with one section of the card covered in a light hue of mint-green, while the other in white. The Standard Chartered logo is still set against the background, but it is a shade lighter than before, and is arranged vertically instead of horizontally. Here’s how the new card face looks like:

With this change, Standard Chartered Malaysia’s Smart credit card is set to move away from the card design that it originally shared with its counterpart in selected countries such as Hong Kong. Instead, it will now look like the versions that were rolled out in both India and Singapore.

Other than the card design, other details of Standard Chartered Malaysia’s Smart credit card remain unchanged. It is still a Visa Platinum card, offering 6% cashback for payments made with seven participating digital lifestyle merchants (total cashback capped at RM20 per month). To unlock the 6% cashback rate, however, you must meet a minimum spend requirement of RM1,000 per month.
