Kiple Alerts Users Of Potential Third-Party Data Breach

Payment service provider Kiple has alerted its users of a potential third-party data breach, which the company said was recently made known to them.

In an email to its users, Kiple said that it is taking precautions and extra efforts to mitigate the situation and to increase security for users’ transactions. “We were told that your Kiple Visa Prepaid Card might have been compromised. Therefore, we are currently engaging data forensic and security experts to conduct investigations which are currently ongoing,” it shared.

Kiple also informed users that they will be contacted if the company finds that they have been affected by the potential data breach. Similarly, if Kiple detects any unusual activities in their accounts during the investigation, they will be contacted too.

The company further reassured that it has put fraud protection technology in place to monitor suspicious activities as well as safeguard users and their transactions.

While Kiple did not mention the source of the breach, it may be potentially related to the recent cybersecurity incident at iPay88 – which could have caused customers’ card data to be compromised. Just last week, online payment gateway iPay88 disclosed that it had discovered a cybersecurity incident involving the card data of its users, and had immediately initiated an investigation on 31 May 2022 with the assistance of cybersecurity experts.

iPay88 also said that the containment process was successfully completed, and various new measures and controls to strengthen the system’s security have also been implemented. Meanwhile, investigations are still ongoing, and iPay88 will share more updates in due course as it continues to monitor the situation closely.
