RM100 E-Wallet Credit To Be Disbursed To Recipients In Fourth Quarter Of 2023

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has revealed that the recently announced RM100 e-wallet incentive will be distributed to eligible Malaysians in the fourth quarter of 2023 (4Q23). In other words, recipients can expect to receive the e-wallet credit sometime between October and December.

In a post on Twitter, MOF also shared that it is currently ironing out the details of the initiative with its stakeholders, but did not mention which e-wallets will be involved. It reiterated as well that the initiative is expected to benefit more than 10 million recipients from the B40 and M40 income group.

Announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim just last week during the launch of the Ekonomi Madani framework, this latest e-wallet incentive is set to benefit individuals who earn an annual income of RM100,000 or less. The prime minister also said that this new incentive is inspired by the success and impact of previous e-wallet credit programmes, with the most recent being the eBeliaRahmah programme for youths.

Meanwhile, other similar initiatives that have been rolled out in past years to encourage the use of e-wallets include the e-Tunai Rakyat, ePemula, and eBelia initiatives. In addition to the e-wallet credit allocated by the government, e-wallet service providers that participated in these previous efforts also provided additional perks – such as discount vouchers – to benefit the recipients.
