Shopee Introduces Next-Day Delivery Service For Shopee Mart
Author Avatar

Shopee has rolled out its next-day delivery service for Shopee Mart via Shopee Express in conjunction with the launch of the 3.3 Supermarket Sale. This is in an effort to cater to the growing reliance on e-commerce and greater expectations for faster deliveries among sellers and buyers in Malaysia.

According to Shopee, users can tap into the next-day delivery service when they purchase selected items on Shopee Mart (marked with the Next-Day Delivery tag) before 12pm. Purchases made after 12pm will be considered as the next day’s order, and will be delivered the following day instead. Here’s a table by Shopee that can help you better understand how the next-day delivery service works:

Note that you must use the “Shopee Express” shipping option during the checkout process to benefit from this next-day delivery service. The service is applicable every day of the week – including weekends – except for public holidays. It is currently available in Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Perak, Pahang, and Penang.

Shopee also said that if your eligible orders are not delivered by the next day as promised, then you will be compensated with a free shipping voucher (capped at RM3.80 with no minimum spend) to use on your next Shopee Mart purchase. Valid for 30 days upon being credited to you, Shopee clarified that only valid failed attempts will be compensated.

In its statement, Shopee further explained that the new next-day delivery service is enabled by an improved and widened logistics network – something which the e-commerce platform has been working on following a study by Parcel Monitor and iPrice Group. The 2020 study found that the Covid-19 lockdown had impacted final mile logistics with delivery time increasing by a 119% in Malaysia.

“We have been working tirelessly alongside various logistics partners and scaling our logistics network by using big data and better projections to improve Malaysia’s delivery lead time since our inception in 2015. Deliveries that used to take up to 10 days and longer in East Malaysia, today have been reduced to one to four days. Now, we are further strengthening the infrastructure through Shopee Express and strategic partnerships with logistics players so that shoppers and businesses can enjoy better delivery services,” said the regional managing director of Shopee, Ian Ho.
