Shopee has announced that it will discontinue the DuitNow Transfer service via ID Type, including Mobile Number and NRIC, on its app effective from 19 March 2025. This means that users will no longer be able to transfer funds to bank accounts or other participating e-wallets using an ID Type through the Shopee App.
Despite this change, users will still have access to alternative fund transfer options on the platform. They can continue transferring funds between ShopeePay e-wallets and making DuitNow Transfers to bank accounts or e-wallets using the DuitNow QR code.
Shopee has stated that the decision to discontinue the service is part of its efforts to enhance core features and improve user experience. The company assured users that no other existing features on ShopeePay would be affected. Customers will still be able to Pay, Transfer, Top Up, and Receive funds through other available methods on the Shopee App.

DuitNow Transfer via ID Type enables users to send money using a registered DuitNow ID, such as a Mobile Number, NRIC, Army/Police ID, Passport, or Business Registration Number. In contrast, DuitNow QR allows users to transfer funds by scanning a pink DuitNow QR code, which will remain available after the discontinuation.
Shopee has confirmed that other payment options on the app will not be affected. Users can continue to make payments using the Scan & Pay feature via DuitNow QR or pay merchants that accept ShopeePay QR. Additionally, they will still be able to receive DuitNow transfers from other users even after the service is discontinued.
The company reaffirmed that the discontinuation would not impact any other Shopee services or features. Shopee expressed appreciation for users’ understanding and emphasised its commitment to providing secure and convenient payment options for a seamless shopping experience.
