Petronas-backed payment app Setel has enabled DuitNow QR support, allowing users to now use its e-wallet for payments at more than one million stores nationwide, instead of just for purchases at Petronas stations.
That said, Setel highlighted that users are currently only able to scan business-registered DuitNow QR codes (non-individual) that are issued by selected payment issuers. Here’s the full list of issuers that are currently supported by Setel:

Setel further said that it is already working on enabling support for DuitNow QR codes issued by Maybank and Agrobank, but did not share a timeline as to when this will happen. This is in addition to other upcoming features that it plans to roll out “very soon”, including money transfers to other individuals via personal QR codes (non-business), as well as payments for purchases with merchants who generate dynamic QR codes.
Additionally, Setel highlighted that it is working to integrate DuitNow QR into its existing ecosystem, with features such as Setel Share and CardTerus. If you’d like to give Setel’s new DuitNow QR feature a try, here’s how you can access it:
Finally, Setel stated in its Help page that users will be able to earn Mesra points for every transaction made with DuitNow QR between today until 31 May 2023. While it did not outright say so, this implies that users will not be able to earn Mesra points after that.
