TikTok has officially rolled out its e-commerce platform, TikTok Shop, to its general users in Malaysia, allowing them to now shop in-app. This is expected to bridge the app’s creators with potential buyers, as well as vice versa.
With this, you’ll be able to discover products as you browse or share content within TikTok; items will be recommended to you based on your interests. You can then shop directly via product anchors that are embedded in the videos and livestreams of merchants’ TikTok pages, as well as through their Product Showcase tab (found in their profile page). Alternatively, you can also use the search bar in the Discover section to help you find specific products.
TikTok said that it will also run campaigns and sales promotions on the platform to generate greater awareness for its latest feature. Among some perks that you can gain from these TikTok Shop campaigns include free shipping and discount vouchers; existing customers can enjoy up to six free shipping vouchers per month, while new customers will get an additional voucher as well.
On the other end of the continuum, TikTok also remarked that it expects TikTok Shop to benefit small and medium enterprises (SMEs) who have yet to set up physical stores due to the high initial costs. “We hope that TikTok will help shape the e-commerce space in Malaysia and encourage more local businesses to maximise opportunities to engage with their customers and drive business results on TikTok Shop,” said the strategy operations manager of TikTok Malaysia, Darren Quek.
Quek further highlighted that TikTok Shop will enable SMEs to tap into the benefits of a community-centric approach, where they can showcase their creativity through videos, connect with their audiences, and consequently boost their sales. SMEs will also be able to manage their businesses completely from within TikTok, including the uploading of products, point of purchase, shipping, and fulfilment of orders.
In conjunction with the upcoming Raya festivities, TikTok Shop is launching its Raya Sales campaign for users – running from today until 30 April 2022. Shoppers will be able to enjoy free shipping vouchers, discounts of up to 99%, and other discount coupons.
