Bank Of China Introduces e-Pocket, Holds Campaign With Grand Prize Of RM888

Bank of China (BOC) has rolled out a product by the name of e-Pocket, which allows new customers to conveniently open a bank account online from the comfort of their homes. Upon successful application, the customer will be provided with a new e-Pocket account and a virtual UnionPay debit card.

According to BOC, the e-Pocket is an “e-money account” that lets you to access various personal finance services at anytime and anywhere. These include checking your bank account details, making fund transfers, and paying your bills with JomPay. Meanwhile, the virtual UnionPay debit card will be linked to your e-Pocket account, and can be used for e-commerce purchases as well as cross-border UnionPay QR code payments.

e-Pocket customers should also note that they will be subjected to account balance and transaction limits, as well as debit card transaction limits:

To apply for BOC’s e-Pocket, you need to be a Malaysian citizen aged 18 years and above, as well as a new BOC customer. Existing customers are not eligible to apply for the product.

If you qualify and would like to try out the e-Pocket, go ahead and download the BOC mobile banking app (international version), then tap on “e-Pocket Application” on the homepage. From there, follow the instructions provided and perform the required electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) authentication process to verify your identity. You’ll also be asked to provide some personal details and create an initial password.

Upon successful application, you’ll receive your temporary mobile banking username, along with your e-Pocket account number and virtual debit card number. A confirmation SMS containing these details will also be sent to you. Use these details and your initial password to log in, and change your mobile banking username and password for better security.

In celebration of the launch of e-Pocket, BOC is currently running its e-Pocket Cash Reward campaign, which consists of two sub-campaigns (Campaign A and B). Under Campaign A, e-Pocket customers will have the chance to win RM10 when they open an e-Pocket account and deposit a minimum of RM50 in a single transaction. Meanwhile, Campaign B offers the chance to win a grand prize of RM888 by performing transactions to earn draw entries.
