CIMB To Discontinue Several Features In CIMB Clicks App

CIMB Bank has notified customers that it will be discontinuing several features in its CIMB Clicks mobile banking app, effective 16 March 2024.

Specifically, the following features on the app will be removed:

  • Goals & Savings
  • Insights (namely Spend Analyser, Payment Reminder, Balance Forecast, and Credit Limit Alert)
  • Challenges (Clicks and OctoSavers campaigns/challenges and OctoPoints)

Aside from these changes, CIMB said that customers can continue to use the CIMB Clicks app as per usual to manage their day-to-day banking needs. They did not, however, provide any justification for the decision to remove the features.

For context, several of the features above were added when CIMB updated its app back in 2020 in a bid to “bring personalisation to a whole new level”. The Spend Analyser and Payment Reminder under Insights, for instance, were introduced with the integration of EVA (Enhanced Virtual Assistant) to offer an improved user experience.

Aside from the CIMB Clicks app, CIMB also has another mobile banking app called the CIMB Octo, which was rolled out in 2022. The new app – which has existed alongside CIMB Clicks thus far – was built on a completely different technology stack and infrastructure, giving it greater flexibility to deploy new features to the platform, as well as enhanced stability and security.
