Maybank has notified customers that they will no longer be receiving SMS notifications when they make updates to the transfer and purchase limits of selected transactions, as well as their personal details in their account through the Maybank2u web. Instead, they will now receive in-app push notifications via the MAE by Maybank2u (MAE) app.
Set to take effect from 22 April 2024, this update will impact the changes that you make for the following actions via the Maybank2u web:
Updates/Changes | Transactions |
Changes to transaction/transfer limits | – Third-party transfer (Maybank to Maybank) – Interbank transfer (DuitNow, DuitNow-Transfer, and GIRO) – Overseas transfer – Maybank Islamic Gold Account-i (MIGA-i) – Maybank-Bakong Transfer – FPX – ASNB account transfer – ASNB third-party transfer |
Changes to purchase limits | Debit cards |
Changes to personal details | – Contact number – Address – Email address |
In its notice, Maybank also reminded customers to enable push notifications in their MAE app to receive these updates. If you’re unsure how to do that, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out:
This transition is made as part of Maybank’s continuous efforts to better serve its customers and to improve its security by relying more on in-app features instead of third-party services. In 2022, the bank had already replaced SMS notifications with push notifications on the MAE app for unsuccessful transactions that are carried out via Maybank debit, credit, or charge cards.
