Maybank To Implement Secure2u For All Maybank2u Biz Transactions Starting 26 November 2023

Maybank has said that all payments made via the Maybank2u Biz app and website will soon need to be approved using its preferred transaction verification method, Secure2u. This update is set to take effect starting from 26 November 2023, and is implemented as part of the bank’s continuous efforts to offer secure banking solutions to its customers.

“All Maybank2u Biz accountholders are recommended to activate the Secure2u authorisation before 26 November. Any activation of Secure2u for Maybank2u Biz app after 26 November will require a minimum 12-hour activation period,” the bank also reminded in a statement.

To activate Secure2u on the Maybank2u Biz app, simply fire up your app and follow these steps:

  • Tap the control centre icon on the top left of your home screen.
  • Select “Settings”, followed by “Security”.
  • Toggle on “Secure2u” and you’re done!

To note, Secure2u is Maybank’s in-app security feature that replaces the previous SMS one-time password (OTP) method used to authorise transactions, following Bank Negara Malaysia’s directive to implement better and additional safeguards in the ongoing fight against scammers. Tied to your device, the feature will send you notification alerts for transactions made via your Maybank2u Biz app, which you must then tap on to approve or reject it within 50 seconds.

Maybank has already completed the migration from SMS OTPs to Secure2u for its consumer banking MAE by Maybank2u (MAE) app since July 2023. Now, it appears that the bank is doing the same for its business customers.

Maybank also clarified in an FAQ that customers can activate Secure2u for both the MAE and Maybank2u Biz app to approve transactions on the same device. In other words, you will not need to go out of your way to obtain a separate device for Secure2u for your Maybank2u Biz app, even after activating Secure2u for your personal banking on the separate MAE app.
