UOB Bank Has Launched Its Official Store On Shopee

UOB Bank has launched its official store on e-commerce platform Shopee, enabling customers to conveniently sign-up for banking products and services without having to visit physical branches.

UOB’s official Shopee store has five “products” on offer, making it easy for you to seamlessly register for the different savings accounts, namely:

  • UOB ProSave Account-i
  • UOB One Account
  • UOB InvestPro Account
  • UOB Lady’s Savings Account
  • UOB Stash Account

In registering for the accounts via Shopee, you’ll need to first “purchase” the accounts at the price of RM1.00 – which will later be refunded to you in the form of a Shopee e-voucher. After you’ve made the purchase, you can then proceed to open your account via the UOB Mighty app.

Once you’ve downloaded the UOB Mighty app, apply for the corresponding account via the “Apply” tab. You’ll then be required to fill in an e-form and complete the electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification process. During the process, make sure to also key in “SHOPEE” in the “Referral ID” section.

From there, you can then proceed to set up your online banking and Mighty Secure features (a digital security token for the authentication of transactions exceeding RM10,000) before activating the account with an initial deposit of RM100.

As for the RM1.00 Shopee e-voucher that is refunded to you after purchasing your saving account, you can find and claim it under the “Shopee Updates” section (found under “Notifications” – at the bottom bar of your main Shopee page). Simply copy the e-voucher code and use it for the checkout of your next purchase (no minimum purchase required). Note, though, that the e-voucher is valid only for three months starting from date of issuance.

In conjunction with the launch of UOB’s official Shopee store, the bank has also rolled out an offer where customers are able to earn up to RM100 Shopee e-vouchers or 150 Shopee Coins. They can win this by playing the Shopee Farm game (accessible via the “Shopee Prizes” tile on your main Shopee page).

Earlier this year, Hong Leong Bank had also opened an official store, becoming the first bank in Malaysia to do so.
