Maybank Revises Air Miles Conversion Rate For Credit Cards
Author Avatar

Maybank has announced a significant revision to its conversion rates for air miles for a majority of its credit cards. This includes the three major frequent flyer programmes available for conversion for Maybank cards, namely Enrich (Malaysia Airlines), KrisFlyer (Singapore Airlines), and Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific).

The revision will apply to all credit cards that earn TreatsPoints (TP) or Membership Rewards points (for American Express), from the lowest tier all the way to the by-invitation-only Visa Infinite Diamante. However, there are a few cards that are excluded from this revision: the American Express Platinum Charge Card and the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer American Express Platinum and Gold co-brand credit cards (which allows cardholders to earn KrisFlyer miles directly instead of TP).

The revision increases the amount of TreatsPoints needed to redeem 1,000 air miles by anywhere between 25% to 43%. Here’s the full breakdown as shared by Maybank:

The revision follows a recent announcement from Maybank regarding air miles conversion. It includes, among others, a new bank-wide redemption limit of 100 million air miles per month, available on a first-come, first served basis. As a result, the monthly allocation of air miles redemption for May 2024 was unfortunately exhausted on 1 May itself (the announcement of this revision was released in the later hours of 30 April).

These changes only affect the conversion rate to air miles for Maybank credit cards. All other aspects remain unchanged, including all Maybank cashback credit cards, which will still earn cashback at their existing rates.
