UOB has made some changes to its Visa Infinite range of credit cards (which includes the conventional Visa Infinite as well as the Privilege Banking Visa Infinite and the invite-only Visa Infinite Metal Card). Interestingly, the revisions are for the better, especially with regards to its overseas spending benefits. Just as interestingly, some of the benefits may have been retroactively applied before the 15 August start date.
Among the enhancements, the biggest one is with the UNIRM rewards points earning rate for overseas spend. Currently, the UOB Visa Infinite earns 8x UNIRM for every RM1 spent in foreign transactions – with the revision, the card now earns 10x UNIRM for every RM1 spent, matching the earning rate of the UOB PRVI Miles Elite (formerly the Citi PremierMiles).
Besides the earning rate, UOB has also increased the number of redemptions for the complimentary airport limo service from 5,000 to 7,000 redemptions throughout the campaign period (1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024). For the Privilege Banking Visa Infinite, UOB has also doubled the redemption quota per cardholder from 1x to 2x per month (as long as the spend requirement is met each time). Besides these two changes, there are no further amendments to the airport limo service benefit.

For the Privilege Banking Visa Infinite only, primary cardholders may now bring an accompanying guest to selected airport lounges as part of their complimentary airport lounge access via DragonPass. This is a similar perk already enjoyed by the highest-tier Visa Infinite Metal Card owners, and conventional Visa Infinite cardholders will continue to enjoy 12x airport lounge access across Asia Pacific.
Lastly, there seems to be one notable, but minor amendment. The updated transaction exclusion list for all three cards now do not list “top-up and/or reload transactions”, indicating that the cards now should consistently reward UNIRM for e-wallet reloads.
It is also important to note that while the changes have been in effect from 15 August, the announcement was not released 21 days before the effective date – a requirement by banking standards. And more interestingly, we were also informed by a cardholder that her foreign transactions as early as 7 August were awarded 10x UNIRM instead of 8x. We have reached out to UOB’s customer service team regarding this over a week ago for a response, but have not received an answer on both issues.
Nevertheless, these changes gives UOB cardholders (and air miles card enthusiasts) a unique headache – it now has two really good travel credit cards but with distinct pros and cons, within a similar income range: the UOB Visa Infinite and the UOB PRVI Miles Elite. We’ll be taking a closer look comparing both cards, so stay tuned to our deep dive!
