AmBank has enabled Apple Pay for its Visa Debit cardholders on PayNet’s MyDebit network. The bank says it is the first in Malaysia to route Apple Pay debit transactions through the country’s domestic payment infrastructure.
The rollout extends Apple Pay access to MyDebit users for in-store, in-app, and online purchases. AmBank had already supported Apple Pay for its credit cardholders, and the latest update brings the same functionality to debit card users transacting on Malaysia’s domestic payment network.
Customers can add their AmBank Visa Debit Card to Apple Wallet directly through the wallet app or via the AmOnline app. In-store payments can be made using an iPhone or Apple Watch, while in-app and online purchases are supported across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Each transaction is authenticated using Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode. Card details are not stored on the device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned and encrypted in the device’s Secure Element chip, which means the actual card number is never shared with merchants during a transaction.
Existing rewards and benefits tied to the AmBank Visa Debit Card continue to apply when paying through Apple Pay.
To mark the launch, AmBank is running a cashback campaign from 15 April to 14 August 2026. Eligible cardholders who make three transactions of at least RM30 each within a calendar month using Apple Pay will receive RM30 cashback. The offer is limited to one redemption per customer and is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Qualifying spend includes e-commerce platforms and online subscriptions, local and overseas retail and grocery stores, and food and beverage outlets, as well as any other categories where Apple Pay is accepted.

AmBank Visa Debit cardholders can now make contactless payments through Apple Pay without needing to carry a physical card, with transactions processed on Malaysia’s local payment rails via PayNet’s MyDebit network. For iPhone users who already use Apple Pay for their AmBank credit cards, the extension to their debit card brings a more consistent experience across their accounts.
