RHB Revises Debit Card Renewal Terms On Mobile Banking
Author Avatar

RHB Bank has announced a revision to the Terms and Conditions [PDF] for debit card renewal carried out through RHB Mobile Banking. The updated terms will take effect from 13 February 2026 and apply to customers renewing their RHB Debit Cards or Debit Cards-i using the mobile app.

The update involves a change in how debit card renewal terms are worded, particularly around fees, and is relevant for customers who manage their cards through mobile banking.

Clause On Renewal Fees Removed To Avoid Confusion

Under the revised Terms and Conditions, Clause 5, which previously stated that no debit card renewal fee would be charged, will be removed.

RHB has clarified that debit card renewal through mobile banking has always been free of charge, and the clause was removed to avoid customer confusion. According to the bank, the wording could give the impression that a renewal fee had previously existed and was later waived, which was not the case.

As such, the removal of the clause does not represent a change in charges, and debit card renewal remains free, consistent with past practice.

What Customers Using Mobile Banking Should Know

Customers renewing their debit cards through RHB Mobile Banking from 13 February 2026 onwards may notice the updated wording during the renewal process.

RHB said any applicable charges would continue to be clearly displayed in-app if they were ever introduced. For now, customers can expect the renewal experience to remain unchanged in terms of fees.

When And Where To Review The Updated Terms

The revised Terms and Conditions will be available from 13 February 2026 within the debit card renewal section of RHB Mobile Banking. Customers can view the updated terms directly as part of the renewal flow.

No action is required before the effective date. Customers who are planning to renew their debit cards around this period may wish to review the updated wording for clarity.

No Change To Debit Card Renewal Charges

For most customers, debit card renewal is an occasional task rather than a frequent one. While the updated terms do not introduce new charges, the clarification serves as a reminder for consumers to review in-app notices and terms when managing card services.

Staying aware of how banking terms are presented can help customers better understand their entitlements and avoid unnecessary confusion when using digital banking services.
