Boost Introduces Level 5 On BoostUp, But Removes Base Coin Earnings For All Levels
Author Avatar

Boost has made some changes to its BoostUP rewards scheme, namely by introducing a new Level 5 loyalty tier and modifying the way Boost Coins are earned across all levels.

Prior to this, there were only four tiers to the BoostUP loyalty programme, but the addition of the Level 5 tier means that loyal Boosties can now earn even bigger rewards than before. You can reach Level 5 by completing a special mission open only to Level 4 Boosties, which requires you to spend RM200 cumulatively on any Bill payment or Prepaid Top Up in the Boost app.

In addition to completing that mission, you must also carry out a minimum of 25 transactions totalling up to RM4,000 in the last 30 days to reach Level 5. To recap, here’s the minimum number of transactions and amount spent for you to qualify for each Boost level:

Tier Number of transactions required Spend amount required
1 0 RM0
2 5 RM150
3 10 RM400
4 20 RM1,000
5 25 RM4,000

The perks of Level 5 include an earning rate of up to 8 Boost Coins for every RM1 spend, double the chances on Boost’s Pick & Win feature, and a Level 5 Welcome Pack which includes RM15 Partner Wallet credit and other freebies.

In addition, Boost has also announced some changes to the earning rate of Boost Coins across all levels. Here is a summary of the previous and current Boost Coins earning rate for Levels 1 to 5.

Previous Earning Rate New Earning Rate
Level 1 1 Boost Coin for every RM3 spent up to 1 Boost Coin for every RM1 spent
Level 2 1 Boost Coin for every RM2 spent up to 1.5 Boost Coins for every RM1 spent
Level 3 1 Boost Coin for every RM1 spent up to 2 Boost Coins for every RM1 spent
Level 4 2 Boost Coins for every RM1 spent up to 4 Boost Coins for every RM1 spent
Level 5 up to 8 Boost Coins for every RM1 spent

These changes to the earning rate of Boost Coins mean that Boosties will no longer be guaranteed a set Coins earning rate with every transaction. Previously, you knew exactly how many Coins you would be getting for each transaction as the earning rate was definitive – although you could win extra coins from the additional Shake reward you get with each transaction.

Under the new earning rate, you stand to earn more Boost Coins with every RM1 spent than before, but this now wholly depends on your luck because of the “up to” factor.

To get more information on updates to the BoostUP programme, you can head on over to Boost’s Facebook page for further details.
