Selangkah App Introduces New E-Wallet Feature, Selangkah Wallet

Selangor’s Covid-19 initiative mobile app Selangkah has been updated with a new e-wallet feature dubbed Selangkah Wallet, allowing users to carry out cashless transactions via QR code payments.

Powered by fintech company Kiple, a subsidiary of Green Packet Bhd, Selangkah users who wish to tap into the new e-wallet are first required to verify their personal details and identity. These include steps such as recording a three-second video, as you can see from the tutorial video here:

Selangkah users can already begin to use the Selangkah Wallet at various stores – such as EconSave, Mydin, KK Mart, 99 Speedmart, as well as Burger King – and more is expected to join in soon, including agencies outside of Selangor. Selangkah also highlighted that its e-wallet feature is the first health-oriented payment platform in the country, given that it is recognised as the official payment gateway for Selangor’s Selcare Clinic and Selcare Pharmacy services.

To note, Selcare Clinic is the medical arm of Selangor’s Covid-19 task force, working hand in hand with authorities including the District Health Office (PKD) and the Royal Malaysian Police. Additionally, the network of healthcare institution is the subsidiary of Selgate Corporation Sdn Bhd.

In revealing Selangkah Wallet, the chief executive officer of Selgate Healthcare, Dr Muaz Omar said that the e-wallet will help to prepare the society as Malaysia embarks on its journey to enter the endemic phase. “Initially, the app was developed for contact tracing and screening purposes. However, we thought it is better to revolutionise it. From the aim to save lives, it has now become an app to facilitate people’s lives,” he added.

Selangkah had actually signalled the rollout of the Selangkah Wallet much earlier this year, when it first launched the Selangkah Biz feature for businesses and traders. Back then, Selangkah also said that it will introduce Selangkah Pay, which allows for the payment of bills and summonses within the app.

You can find out more about the Selangkah app here or download it for free on Google Play or the App Store.
