Shopee Launches Its Food Delivery Service, ShopeeFood
Author Avatar

Shopee is finally joining the food delivery market with the roll-out of its latest ShopeeFood feature. The function – which is currently still on trial – is made available to only 25% of Shopee users for now, but the e-commerce platform expects to launch it in full within the next three to five working days before the end of September 2021.

This update is not unexpected as the e-commerce platform had previously put out a call to hire ShopeeFood delivery partners in Malaysia. Following the reveal today, Shopee said that the service is presently available only in Klang Valley, but will continue to expand across Malaysia in the near future.

If you’re one of the lucky few who can access ShopeeFood after updating your Shopee app to the latest version, you’ll find the new service among the feature tiles in your main Shopee page within the app. From there, you’ll be able to find a selection of restaurants that are offering their services through ShopeeFood, and you can go ahead and put in an order between 10am to 10pm. It is also possible to monitor the status of your order through the app, from the time you submit your order to when it is picked up by the delivery partner, and when it is delivered.

The current list of merchants encompasses a range of cuisines, such as fast food, local and international dishes, beverages, as well as desserts. Popular stores include Sushi King, Kenny Rogers Roasters, and Nam Heong.

Users should note that their orders will also include a service fee on top of the delivery fees, “applied to ensure the best quality of service from ShopeeFood”. You can view this service fee during the checkout process of your order, and it may vary for each merchant.

In celebration of this launch, Shopee is currently giving out both free delivery and food discount vouchers. The free delivery vouchers do not require you to spend a minimum amount, and give you up to RM3 rebate on the delivery fee. Meanwhile, the food discount vouchers offer up to RM8 rebate, provided you meet the minimum spend requirement.

Customers who have enquiries can contact Shopee’s customer service at 03-2777 9222 or reach out to the e-commerce platform through its Help Centre.
