TNG eWallet Launches GOprotect Insurance Hub

Touch ‘n Go (TNG) Digital has announced the launch of GOprotect, described as a “a one-stop insurance hub” housed within TNG eWallet that lets users purchase various insurance offerings via the app.

Within the new GOprotect tile that you can find in your TNG eWallet app, you’ll be able to view and purchase all the six different insurance products that have been rolled out by TNG eWallet thus far, namely:

  • WalletSafe: Protection for your TNG eWallet credit and GO+ balance
  • SafeTrip: Travel insurance
  • SafeHome: Fire insurance plan for your home
  • CI Insure: Critical illness insurance that covers the top five critical illnesses in Malaysia
  • CarInsure: Car insurance
  • MotoInsure: Motorcycle insurance

In addition to that, you’ll also be able to obtain quotes for free from several insurers to compare before making your actual purchase, including AIA Malaysia, Allianz, Etiqa, MSIG, Takaful Ikhlas, Takaful Malaysia, and Zurich Takaful.

TNG Digital further highlighted the convenience of purchasing your insurance via its TNG eWallet app; with GOprotect, users can purchase an insurance in less than three minutes, and you can also easily access your policies through the “My Policies” section at any time (found within the GOprotect tile). Additionally, TNG eWallet will ensure that your transactions are secure through the implementation of its safety and security measures.

Chief executive officer of TNG Digital, Alan Ni said that the company has always envisioned TNG eWallet as a one-stop alternative to banking solutions, enabling users to access a full suite of financial services products conveniently. The launch of GOprotect is one step towards that ambition.

“TNG eWallet already has more than two million policies issued since the launch of its first insurance product in July 2021. In 2022 alone, we managed to issue 1.5 million policies and we plan on doubling the number of policies this year. We will continue to improve the overall insurance penetration, especially amongst the B40 group, which is still very low at only 30%,” Ni further said.

TNG eWallet first ventured into insurance products with the introduction of CarInsure in July 2021, followed by other subsequent offerings, such as WalletSafe and SafeTrip. Prior to the launch of GOprotect, all of these insurance offerings were simply grouped under an unbranded “Insurance” tile in the TNG eWallet app.

With the launch of GOprotect, Ni said that TNG eWallet is looking to introduce more value-for-money insurance products in the near future. In the meantime, TNG eWallet users can tap into a campaign held in conjunction with this launch, where they can win 100% cashback when they purchase an insurance plan via GOprotect. Running until 31 May 2023, only six lucky winners will be selected each day.
