E-wallet TrueMoney announced that it has enabled support for DuitNow QR, which means that its users can now make payments with any participating merchants just by scanning their DuitNow QR codes. With this, the e-wallet has significantly expanded its footprint across Malaysia, allowing users to pay at over 22,000 merchants and 35,000 payment points.
In a statement, the country managing director of TrueMoney’s parent company Ascend Group, Jessie Chong said that this DuitNow acceptance marks a pivotal moment for the e-wallet.

“Nearly 1.9 million people use the DuitNow QR platform, highlighting the growing preference for contactless payments. By strategically embracing one of Malaysia’s most popular QR payment networks, we empower millions of users with unmatched convenience and choice. In a crowded fintech landscape, supporting DuitNow QR positions TrueMoney as a comprehensive all-in-one payment solution,” Chong further commented.
Moving forward, Chong said that TrueMoney is also set launch new services for its users in the app, including online payment and international remittance services. This underscores the e-wallet’s commitment in providing financial flexibility to users both locally and globally, as well as its dedication to staying at the forefront of fintech innovation.

TrueMoney – which currently has presence in seven countries – was launched in Malaysia in early 2023, and is also the official payment provider for retail chain Lotus’s. At present, it is running its Huat’s Up campaign to celebrate the newly enabled DuitNow QR function, as well as the upcoming Chinese New Year. Under this campaign, a variety of rewards can be won when you meet the requirements, including RM8 cashback, 8x My Lotus’s Points, and TrueAngpao with randomised cashback.
