Prudential BSN Takaful Launches New App Offering Takaful Protection

Prudential BSN Takaful has launched PruBSN Aman, a new community-based mobile app that offers takaful protection and khairat benefits. It is the first mobile application in Malaysia to be built based on the takaful aspect of mutual cooperation (ta’awun) and a peer-to-peer (P2P) concept.

“The launch of PruBSN Aman is timely given the accelerated adoption of digital and contactless transactions in the new normal,” said PruBSN CEO Wan Saifulrizal Wan Ismail. “The app is also a step change in empowering mutual protection and mutual assistance by making takaful and funeral services more inclusive, transparent, and affordable for everyone. With PruBSN Aman, we are raising the level of convenience and positive impact to not just the individual but also the community at large.”

Contributors to the plan are entitled to a death benefit of RM7,000 payable to their nominee, as well as an additional khairat benefit of RM3,000. Upon a contributor’s death, the khairat benefit will be paid directly to the provided funeral service manager, who will help with all the funeral arrangements from end to end in accordance with shariah laws. If the funeral management service is not utilised, the benefit will be paid directly to the nominee.

“Arranging a funeral is a very emotional time and can be complicated and costly. Knowing what to do at the moment can be tricky, what more during a pandemic such as now. However, PruBSN Aman is leading the market for better, faster, and more accessible solutions for funeral arrangements before and after death,” said Mohd Yusni Hj Ismail, CEO of MyAngkasa Mukmin, the established funeral service manager partnered with PruBSN Aman.

PruBSN Aman participants start out with an advance contribution payment of RM120 – of which RM30 will be charged for the upfront wakalah fee and the remaining RM90 will go into a mutual account. The funds in the mutual account will only be deducted to help pay for the cost of a death claim among the pool of participants and you can top-up your contribution via the app when the account balance runs low. You can easily keep track of your mutual account balance, deductions, and other details in the app.

You can find out more about PruBSN Aman on its website or download it from Google Play or the App Store to get started.
