If you’re looking to invest in cryptocurrency, you may want to tap into the ongoing promotion that has resulted from Luno’s recent partnership with Shopee. Through this collaboration, Luno – Malaysia’s first legitimate cryptocurrency exchange – is making it possible for you to get special Bitcoin deals, discounts, and vouchers on the e-commerce platform.

If you are a new Luno customer, then you will be entitled to vouchers that let you get additional Bitcoins when you buy a specified minimum amount of Bitcoins on your new Luno account. Currently, Bitcoin vouchers worth RM15, RM30, and RM200 are on sale at prices between RM0.88 to RM8.88.

Here’s how to redeem your vouchers as a new Luno customer:

  • Register on the official Luno app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Note that the identity verification process may take up to two days.
  • Once you’re verified, go to “Rewards”, and choose “Enter Code” to key in your Shopee voucher code.
  • Next, go to “Wallets” on your home screen, tap on “Deposit”, and transfer an amount to your account. Be sure to deposit enough so that you can purchase the minimum Bitcoin stipulated in your voucher.
  • Go back to your home screen and tap “Buy” to purchase the required amount of Bitcoin.
  • Receive your additional Bitcoins!

For existing customers, on the other hand, there are vouchers that let you purchase Bitcoins at a discounted price. For instance, you can purchase Bitcoins worth RM100 at the price of RM93.88, and Bitcoins worth RM200 at the price of RM189.88.

Through this partnership, Luno hopes to leverage on Shopee’s large user base to help them drive awareness and adoption of cryptocurrencies. It also hopes to make Bitcoins more accessible to the public via the e-commerce platform.

Luno, which is based in London, has been operating in Malaysia since 2015, dealing exclusively in Bitcoin and Ethereum. In early 2019, however, they went through a stint of break until it successfully obtained its licence from the Securities Commission in October 2019.

If you’re interested, do visit Luno’s official Shopee page for more details before its promotion ends on 10 February 2020.
