Grab has expanded its GrabCar rental service to Kuala Lumpur, the first location in the Klang Valley area. This service was first introduced in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah as a trial run last month.
Unlike the standard GrabCar on-demand ride-hailing feature, GrabCar Rent is a limited car rental service that includes a driver, and the fee includes fuel costs and toll fares, and is charged by the hour. Customers will be able to make unlimited stops during the rental duration. Grab customers will be given a range of hourly packages to choose from depending on their needs.
Currently, GrabCar Rent is only available to book in the KLCC area, although customers will be able to travel around the Klang Valley with this service from that starting point. However, there will be extra charges for customers who want to travel to locations like Genting Highlands or KLIA/KLIA2. This service is only available from 9am to 8pm compared to the standard 24-hour GrabCar service.
Grab has yet to officially introduce this new service on its official website, but Grab users in the KL area can already see the option in the Grab app. This is likely a limited release that may see a wider rollout in the coming months.
