Affin Bank has announced that it will be terminating its AffinPay mobile payment app, effective 1 December 2020.

AffinPay was launched only in July last year, allowing customers to store multiple Affin Bank Visa debit or credit cards and make payments through their phones. Users could pay at any merchant where Visa Paywave is accepted, but the app was only made available for Android phones that support NFC technology.

Here is the termination notice reproduced in full:

Dear AffinPay Customers,

Please be informed that AffinPay services will cease effective 1 December 2020. Stay tuned for a new, exciting and encompassing solution for your day-to-day banking needs.

Follow our Facebook or Instagram @AffinMy to find out more or call our Contact centre at 03-8230 2222.

The termination of the payment app came just as Affin Bank announced its rebranding exercise, carried out in conjunction with its 45th anniversary. According to the bank, the exercise signifies its transformation by embracing creativity and technology amidst an ever-changing business environment.
