CIMB Bank has announced that it will be discontinuing the CIMB Clicks app as of 11 June 2024, removing it from distribution platforms like Google Play, the App Store, and Huawei AppGallery. It will, instead, be replaced by the CIMB OCTO app, which is described as “an easier way to manage your finances quickly and securely”, offering a personalised banking experience.
In its FAQ, CIMB also clarified that existing CIMB Clicks users will still be able to continue banking and performing transactions on this app as usual for now, but “not for long”. That said, it did not share a definite timeline as to when it will be phasing out the CIMB Clicks app, and encouraged customers to start making the transition as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, those who bank via the CIMB Clicks website can continue to carry out their daily banking activities as usual; they will not be impacted by this change.
To note, the CIMB OCTO app was first unveiled back in 2022, with CIMB depicting it as an app that lets users take control of their mobile banking experience, as they were allowed access to a fair bit of customisation options. Among other things, users could customise their home screen with their preferred widgets, such as Transfer, DuitNow, JomPAY, and more. The bank also adopted a “collaborative approach” for the app, where it continued to roll out updates based on users’ feedback.
Following that, CIMB also began to discontinue certain features in the CIMB Clicks app at the start of this year, hinting at the sunsetting of the app. Specifically, it removed the Goals & Savings, Insights, and Challenges features in March 2024.
If you have any questions regarding this transition to CIMB OCTO or encounter any issues, you can reach out to CIMB’s customer service at +603 6204 7788, or email them at [email protected]. Alternatively, feel free to visit your nearest CIMB branch to speak to a bank personnel for help.
