Grab Rolls Out GrabCar Saver Option In Klang Valley, Other Selected Cities
Author Avatar

Grab has introduced its new e-hailing feature, the GrabCar Saver option, to users in more cities across Peninsula Malaysia. As the name implies, it is meant to provide a more affordable ride, allowing you to save up to 20% off the usual fare – provided that you’re willing to accept a longer wait time.

According to Grab, this new feature is only available during non-peak hours from 9am to 4pm from Mondays to Fridays, and Grab drivers are allowed to accept or decline bookings without affecting their cancellation rate. As a passenger, you’ll automatically be able to see this option listed when you place a ride request on Grab during the eligible period, in addition to other available ride alternatives like JustGrab and GrabCar Plus.

To encourage users to try out this new feature, Grab is currently offering a 15% cashback for your bookings as well. This is on top of the savings that you can already enjoy with GrabCar Saver.

To note, GrabCar Saver was actually first rolled out much earlier – back in July 2023 – but it was only made available in a few cities, like parts of East Malaysia. Following this first round of pilot, it is now introduced to more users in other areas of Peninsula Malaysia, including Klang Valley, Penang, and Melaka.

Additionally, GrabCar Saver is part of Grab’s various efforts in introducing cost-saving features for budget-conscious customers, under the #SavewithGrab umbrella. These include the rollout of the GrabFood Saver delivery option, the updated GrabUnlimited plan with longer subscription periods and cheaper fees, as well as an upcoming Stamp Cards loyalty programme.
