Grab Malaysia has announced several new and enhanced features on its app that will be focused on affordability, set to be rolled out to users over the next few months. This comes as part of Grab’s #SavewithGrab efforts, representing its commitment to help budget-conscious Malaysians save more via the Grab app.
In a statement, Grab said that it will be piloting a brand-new Stamp Cards feature, which is an in-app loyalty programme for users to earn stamps whenever they order meals from their favourite GrabFood merchant partners (applicable for both Grab and in-store orders). And like many other stamp rewards programmes, you’ll be able to redeem a reward upon collecting the full set of stamps required. This feature is expected to be launched to users with selected participating merchants in November 2023.
Aside from that, another enhanced feature that users can look forward to is the introduction of new GrabUnlimited subscription plans, where subscribers can soon opt for shorter or longer subscription periods – with different tiers of fees. To be rolled out in stages starting from December 2023, you can save on subscription fees if you go with a longer-term plan, as indicated below:
Additionally, Grab is enhancing its GrabFood Group Order feature, which allows users to invite other individuals to join their GrabFood order and share the delivery fee. The feature will soon be updated with several improved elements, including the introduction of QR codes for a more convenient process of starting a group order. On top of that, you can also set an order deadline, as well as share order tracking with all the participants in the group so that they, too, can track its progress on their own Grab app.
More importantly, however, is the new smart bill calculation component under this Group Order feature, which lets you calculate the cost of the order for each participant, split either equally or by individual orders (including the delivery fee, tax, and tips). It will be launched soon, but there is no concrete deadline for it at the moment, said Grab.
The tech giant also highlighted two other existing features that are included under its #SavewithGrab initiative as well, enabling users to save as they spend on necessities via the Grab app: the Dine-In feature and the Saver delivery option on GrabFood. The Dine-In feature was announced just recently in August 2023 so that customers can tap into deals and purchase dine-in vouchers for restaurants that they would like to visit, while the Saver delivery option – which allows consumers to enjoy lower delivery fees in exchange for a slightly longer delivery time – has already helped Malaysians to save over RM27 million to date.
Head of marketing for Grab Malaysia, Hassan Alsagoff said that these new and upgraded features are an indication of Grab’s commitment to better serve its users and merchant partners moving forward.
“Leveraging our technology and scale, these additions to our platform help to keep us relevant in the current economic climate. Being even more affordable incentivises customers to keep coming back and enables us to reach and serve a wider range of consumers than before. Additionally, by creating more orders and bookings, it could generate more earning opportunities for our merchant and delivery partners,” said Alsagoff.
