Maybank has announced that the Maybank2u MY app will be officially discontinued on 28 August 2024, almost four years since the bank announced that it was phasing out the app. This means that any existing users must fully transition to the MAE app.

Maybank stressed that the MAE app, launched in 2020, has all the existing features of the Maybank2u app, enhanced security features, and more, as it has been progressively transitioning key features to be only available on the MAE app.

In recent years, Maybank had transitioned services such as ASNB account services and more importantly, Secure2u activations to be available only on the MAE app. More recently, the app was removed from all app stores on 30 June.

In its announcement, Maybank also stated that once the service is discontinued, users will no longer be able to access the Maybank2u MY app. For any Maybank customers who are still using the Maybank2u MY app, they are highly encouraged to switch to MAE as soon as possible, especially as there is a 12-hour cooling off period when users activate Secure2u for the first time to prevent unauthorised approvals.

The MAE app is available at the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and Huawei AppGallery.
